Barrister Efiok Cobham
Deputy Governor Efiok Essien Cobham was born on 2nd December 1961 as the first of six children to Etubom Essien Cobham of Creek Town, Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State.
By 1974, Efiok Cobham had completed his primary education at Presbyterian Church of Nigeria Primary School in Creek Town. In the same year, he began his secondary education at Government Secondary School, Creek Town where he passed out with flying colours in 1979.
Upon completion of his secondary schooling, he gained admission into the University of Calabar to study the course of his dreams – Law. He was at the University of Calabar between 1981 and 1985 where he distinguished himself academically. On graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree, he enrolled at the Nigerian Law School in 1985. He successfully completed Law school and was called to the Bar in 1986.
Since leaving school, Mr. Cobham has maintained a very active life as a private legal practitioner, public officer, business entrepreneur and politician.
On 23rd August, 2008, he was elected Deputy Governor of Cross River State on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party. Mr. Cobham has since dedicated himself to working alongside Governor Liyel Imoke to ensure the growth and prosperity of Cross River State.
He is a recipient of numerous awards, a deeply religious and sociable man. In his spare time, Mr. Cobham enjoys ready, playing football and lawn tennis and spending time with his family. He is married to Mrs. Glory Cobham and they are blessed with children.
